After just minutes of being at the Dark & Lovely bloggers breakfast hosted by Harlem Fashion Row Movement, I was inspired. The panel included Celebrity Stylist Keith Campbell, Essence Magazine Beauty Director, Corynne Corbett , Model Sessilee Lopez, and Fashion Designer Sammy B. They discussed how they got started, their challenges, what they love about their jobs and the impact that bloggers have on the fashion industry. They also talked about their favorite social sites, advice for those who have dreams, dream killers and how to continue moving forward. When Corynne Corbett asked about dealing with dream killers, Keith Campbell’s response stuck out to me most. “Be careful who you tell your dreams to” is what he said. That hit me because sometimes the very people you think that would try to inspire and encourage you to go for your goals turn out to be individuals who will say your dreams will never happen. It touched me because I have a great idea that I would like to put out there and someone very close to me automatically just down played my idea. The bloggers breakfast was very encouraging and enlightening. The panelists’ helped ne to see that I need to be passionate about my dreams and GO for them, despite what the dream killers say. I have to inspire myself.
