I don't know what it is but the anticipation of Summer Jam is like no other concert. Maybe it's the fact that you’re in a stadium filled with 60,000 other people and it feels like the largest Hip Hop party of the summer. Even though it rained and my flip flops were falling off as I was running into the stadium... that just made it even more exciting.
The lineup was crazy this year, Maino, Slaughter House, Tyga,Wacka Flocka, Big Sean, Young Jeezy, JCole, Wale, 2Chainz, Trey Songz, French Montana,Meek Mill and Rick Ross that didn't include the surprise guest: Mase, Method Man, Raekwon , TI, MOP, Asap Rocky, Pusha T, Miguel, Swizz Beats, Nas and last but not least the Grammy award winning Miss Lauryn Hill.
Lauryn Hill was the biggest highlight of the night for me, when she came out,the crowd went bananas. Lauryn rocked the stage, she looked like her old self , like she never left, singing & rapping and doing that L-Boogie shuffle across the stage as she performed "Ready or Not" "Lost Ones" and "If I Ruled the World".
I thought J-Cole did a fantastic job he had a really cool laid back set, I enjoyed watching him,and he’s one to look out for in the future. Young Jeezy not only looked good but he killed his performance, very high energy giving us that thug motivation...definitely one of the best performances of the night. Wacka Flocka surprised everyone by jumping in the crowd I guess he wanted to get closer to his fans. The MMG family (Rick Ross, Wale, and Meek Mill) of course tore down the house with all of their hits and swagger across the stage.
I really enjoyed DJ Mr. Cee and DJ Funk Master Flex set they killed it, they kept the crowd energized and on our feet while we waited for the next artist to perform. There were so many highlights and moments that you guys missed, you just had to be there!
