I have been slacking this past week... I wasn't in a blogging mood, plus I got a new puppy so I have been consumed with him (Bailey) I will blog about him soon enough. Anyway, I went to the Evolution of Curves Fashion Show last week in NYC and I had a good time. I was looking forward to this event because I haven't been to a fashion show in years. The models were confident, sassy and in the zone. During the show the models did a skit with designer bags it was really, really cute, one of the highlights of the night. There were so many designers featured, they even had some of the items on the runway in the show for sale to purchase.
What I liked most was the fact that this show benefited the people of Haiti and will help build homes for those who lost them during the earthquake. If you would like to donate you can contact Haiti Cherie Heritage, Sandy Jean Phillipe (CEO of Evolution of Curves) and her mother are founders of this foundation.
Overall, the fashion show was cool, the only negative thing I will say is that the designers could have made the models look better as far as fitting outfits according to there body frames and wearing body shapers to highlight there curvy and plus sized figures. I mean even the Beyonce wears 6 pairs of stocking to hold those legs in during her performances. It's all about the look, we can embrace our curves but we want to make it look good and appealing to the on lookers and not turn people off...
What I will say is... those models in the show were fearless and exuded confidence beyond because they were willing to strut there stuff regardless of there imperfections for a good cause. I believe the New York show was the final show so look out for Evolution of Curves next year. I do know that Sandy Jean Phillipe is very accommodating and excepts constructive criticism, suggestions and ideas to make the show better. During the fashion show she mentioned that "it's all about growth" and I know that with every fashion show that she does, it will get better and better because she is passionate about curvy and plus size women getting the exposure that they deserve in the fashion industry.
